Welcome to the College of Fox Mulder!
Your department head is there to give you assistance if you need it. They are also responsible for helping you do the best work that you can, so when you send them your thesis, they will more than likely have some suggestions for you to take into consideration. Don't worry about that--we're just trying to make sure that the work you submit to the XFU is the best that it can be.
If you are interested in any of these subjects, feel free to contact
the Department Head. If you'd rather study a different area, just e-mail me, and you can study out of the college instead of a specific school.
What makes a thesis?
RULES:
2. Feel free to extrapolate on information given in an episode, but you MUST support your ideas.
*3. Any reference made to David Duchovny must be tasteful and MUST relate to his portrayal of Fox Mulder. You may critique his acting in certain seasons or episodes, but any comments about his personal life will have to be taken out, or you will not receive your degree. And there will be absolutely NO David Duchovny bashing--even if you don't approve of the man, DD's acting is one crucial point in a good, solid regard for Fox Mulder.
4. Make sure to cite episode titles or quotes in your thesis. If you need help locating a quote or event, just ask your Department Head.
5. The Dean or Department Head has the right to make sure you have a good, well-rounded understanding of Fox Mulder in general before they allow you to get your PhD.
*NOTE: If you are looking for a degree in the David Dept, contact Kate for any adjustments made on Rule #3.
Congratulations on choosing the most intriguing character of the X-Files to write your thesis on! We at the CFM hope to hear from you soon!

First of all, I'd like to say thank you for your interest in our college! Fox Mulder is a wonderful, multi-layered character -- strong, vulnerable, driven, brilliant and sometimes even a little bit insane.
What a degree in the College of Fox Mulder involves:
Unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), there's not much studying involved in getting a degree in Fox Mulder. What *is* involved is an essay on any aspect of Mulder you choose to write about--10K for a Bachelor's Degree, plus another 15K for a Masters, plus another 20K thesis--for a total of about
45K--for a Doctorate. If you need ideas, just e-mail the Department Head of the college you're interested in, and they will help you find an area to specialize in.
This is all explained in more depth here, at the XFU FAQ page. The College of Fox Mulder's guidelines are not very different from the general XFU policy. Also, you may e-mail your department head to learn more.
The College is divided into departments--four more elemental parts of the school, each one more or less governing itself. Once you've found the department to be your home, all the work you do will be through your Department Head. If the subject you've chosen to get a degree in is not covered by one of the four departments, then you can work directly out of the CFM.
Once you've chosen a topic, e-mail the Department Head, and tell them what it is. Then, you get to go write it. If you get stuck, lost, or need any kind of help at all, just e-mail your dean, and she'll be more than glad to help you out in any way she can.

The Dean for this college is Kate.
We currently have four separate departments within this college:
David Duchovny Studies---headed by Kate: ddstudies@yahoo.com
Angst and Redemption Studies---headed by Cheryl: C1424@aol.com
Wardrobe Studies---headed by Deb: thalia@goodnet.com
MulderTorture--headed by Kim: kimmy@idx.com.au
Your thesis should prove or analyze some aspect of Fox Mulder. The thesis can be either funny or serious, and should cite examples from episodes or statements made by
either David Duchovny, Chris Carter, Gillian Anderson, or another "important" X-File director or writer. Feel free to use lyrics from songs or poetry, however the length of the song or poem won't be counted as part of the required length for the thesis.
1. Your thesis must pertain to Fox Mulder.
Feel free to ask me any questions. I'm excited to be dean of this department, and I look forward to reading your thesis. Once you come up with your thesis statement (what you want to discuss) your Department Head would appreciate if you would let her know what you are doing. We love to help and some of us are currently working on our own thesis essays, so we can try to guide you through any problems you may be having.
